Two peligrinos departing
St.-Jean-Pied-de-Port
Ancient church bells toll 12 times
Through the Spanish gate we go
Upward into the Pyrenees
Steps steady and slow
Rain a constant companion
As we ascend 3,000 feet.
Upward into the Pyrenees
Unfolding patches of green
Cows and sheep take no notice
Rain is our constant companion
Seven kilometers to Orisson
Arrive quite wet and cold
Drying out by the fire.
Relaxing for the night.
Eleven in our bunk room auberge
5 Danes, 4 French, Jamie and me
Sharing stories, food and drink
And now our new companion -
Fellow peligrinos. Buen Camino
Smiles! Rain and cold not getting in the way at all. So happy to hear you're off to a great start.

ReplyDeleteLove reading about your days and seeing the photos. Here's wishing you good I weather, warmth and a little breeze and clear skies. Thinking of you both and cheering you on.
ReplyDeleteSo love seeing the path and the two of you on it, going at your own pace!! Hope this gets through...my first note didn't...no doubt the usual operator error.
